  • Next step opportunity for a senior/ technical underwriter or portfolio manager in financial lines
  • On-going role, hybrid work environment with offices in the CBD, can be based in Sydney or Melbourne
  • Part of a team of experienced SMEs in a business where you can see your impact

What you’ll do

We see our Senior Portfolio Specialists (or SPS) as subject matter experts across the business. You’ll use the breadth and depth of your underwriting experience to manage the performance of your own underwriting portfolio across our casualty lines, including professional indemnity and public liability.

As an SPS you’ll still use your underwriting nous to support our team in dealing with more complex referrals and you could also be involved in pulling together tenders and significant renewals. However, the core of your work is to own your portfolio. You’ll be monitoring and developing product and pricing solution and collaborating with your colleagues across the business to implement both retention and new business strategies, to ensure its long-term sustainability.

Who you are

Your experience: You’ll have solid technical knowledge as an underwriter across financial lines products, especially professional indemnity. It would be a bonus if you’ve been across other products like management liability and cyber or have experience in underwriting schemes. You could be a senior or technical underwriter wanting to take that next step up.

You’re motivated by: The opportunity to level up from case or technical underwriting work. You want to come into your own as an insurance professional, still using your expertise to help us solve more complex issues while keeping your eye on the broader picture of how your portfolio of markets is doing and what we need to do to keep improving its performance. You’ll be excited by figuring out how we can respond to changes in your markets and working with others like our Analytics, Casualty Claims and Marketing Teams to drive that response.

You’ll thrive in: A close-knit group of other subject matter experts. We have a high level of analytical and technical capabilities in a team that’s willing to share knowledge and support each other. Our size means we can collaborate effectively across different teams and while allowing to see the impact of your work directly.
