The Role

Based in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne or Newcastle, as our newest Casualty Claims Specialist, you will need to bring experience in claims management or insurance litigation. You will love the challenge of managing a complex portfolio of claims independently within your delegation.  As a specialist, you will also provide additional support to the Casualty Claims team and the wider claims business on casualty Claims issues.

 Specifically, you will:

  • Manage Casualty claims including telephone enquiries, advice, support and guidance to clients in order to deliver economic Casualty claims outcomes for them and the Group.
  • Identify and support Casualty claims team improvements and initiatives
  • Assist the Casualty Claims Team Leader when required with claims advice, coaching and mentoring
  • Maintain relevant documentation through our Claims System and relevant file standards 
  • Identify and proactively manage matters requiring legal involvement including all relevant documentation in a timely manner
  • Assess policy coverage, liability and quantum of claims within the portfolio
  • Set and execute claims resolution strategies to ensure effective claims outcomes
  • Undertake critical analysis of legal advice and provide instructions accordingly
  • Ensure accurate and timely collation and dissemination of relevant information, such as High-Risk Claims Advices and input into claim committee or portfolio reporting, relating to Casualty claims
  • Take lead in providing feedback to product and underwriting on risks and policy wording issues
  • Support the Claims Legal Services Manager by providing feedback on legal suppliers and assisting with legal services initiatives             


This is a great opportunity to share your knowledge and expand further as you work with a team of dedicated professionals. To be successful in this role, you will be legally qualified with in-depth knowledge of litigation and practices relevant to casualty claims ideally with Medical Malpractice experience and Professional Indemnity. You will bring advanced knowledge of claims management guidelines and processes within General Insurance as well as strong product knowledge and can apply and interpret complex casualty wording. Health-related education or experience will also be well regarded.
